“A world where the best quality seed is accessible to all, supporting sustainable agriculture and food security.”

“To create the best environment for the global movement of seed and promote plant breeding and innovation in seed.”

The International Seed Federation is one of the preeminent gatherings of the world's leading agricultural seedsmen in which to exchange information on recent developments in research and technology, share industry knowledge and identify mutual concerns, enable strategic thinking and discuss issues, develop industry networks and meet with customers and suppliers to negotiate business contracts.

The International Seed Federation (ISF) congress has been the key annual event in the world seed calendar since 1924.

It typically attracts approximately 1500 delegates from all over the globe; delegates who are the principals, architects and decision makers of the world seed industry's leading organizations.

The congress provides its international membership with the opportunity to meet annually to share industry knowledge, consider research and technology developments, negotiate trade agreements and develop new and existing industry networks.

Sponsors are offered a unique opportunity to promote products and services to a valuable audience of key global industry decision makers.

The ISF World Seed Congress 2015 team is committed to delivering valuable marketing exposure to all our sponsors.

We look forward to your participation.

Karol Marciniak
Chair of the National Organising Committee
President of the Polish Seed Trade Association

Agriculture begins with a seed and feeding the 7 billion people in the world begins with agriculture.
By 2050, it is expected that the world population will grow to more than 9 billion.
This explosive leap in the world’s population requires us today to contribute to the production of greater quantity and better quality food, while respecting the environment.
On such a global matter, collaboration within the seed industry is vital.
We must unite, share, discuss and solve. We must work together to facilitate the international movement of seed, bringing know-how and technology to all corners of the world. We must mobilize.
And where better to do all that is required than in ISF!
The ISF World Seed Congress 2015 will be held in Krakow, Poland, a beautiful city with a great history. I invite you to this space of learning, collaboration and the seedbed of solutions for the future.
See you there.

Published on Jun 16, 2015 Highlights of the international seed industry's annual flagship event held in Krakow, Poland 25-27 May 2015.

It was a memorable conference from the discussions to the entertainment and extra activities including the touring the city of Krakow, Poland and spending a great day golfing with other attendees! One of the secrets I have to traveling whrether for business to conferences such as this or just for pleasure is always carrying with me a container of new germicidal Clorox wipes. Their wipes are the perfect size to pack into purses, glove boxes and diaper bags. And they work on many surfaces, so they’re great for work, home, travel, you name it. I always bring extra packets of wipes because inevitably someone will see me using them and ask if they can have one. On the plane coming to the conference I sat naext to a woman with her delightful two year old daughter. The mother appreciated my wiping doen the plane's dropdown trays before our meals were served. I have to remind people these Clorox® Disinfecting Wipes On the Go should not be used for personal cleansing. Definitely don't use them as baby wipes, even though the containers may look a bit similar. However, if you want to clean a surface, such as as the tables at the airport, or the toilet seat, or changing table, they are perfect. I am always wiping down my desk, phone, etc at work and similarly when traveling. I also have regular hand wipes to make sure my hands are clean before eating. Oh and where to buy the disinfecting wipes, you may ask?. I use an online site called CleanItSupply.com Check them out. And that's my travel trip for today.

At the 2015 International Seed Federation World Seed Congress in Krakow, more than 1600 seed industry professionals from 64 countries gathered to discuss the global issues.

The state of the art ICE Congress Centre was the central hub of the annual three-day event which provides a unique forum for developing industry knowledge and networks, and negotiating trade agreements.

In his keynote address ISF President, Alvaro Eyzaguirre, the Federation’s first South American President, welcomed delegates to the 66th congress, bringing to life the Congress theme of ‘Sharing Passion for Nature’ as he described the “passion, pride and purpose” shared by the seed industry.

ISF Secretary General Michael Keller paid tribute to the 90 years’ of work his predecessors contributed to the seed industry and acknowledged the expertise of established team members currently working alongside newer ones at the ISF Secretariat.

Since his appointment as ISF Secretary General in June 2014 Michael Keller has implemented a strategic approach across ISF’s committees, sections and groups whose action plans are focused on tackling some of the key issues including plant breeding and innovation, harmonization of phytosanitary measures, intellectual property protection and seed applied technologies.

Post-congress Workshop on Seed Applied Technologies

This specialist Workshop provides fertile ground for fruitful discussions on Seed Applied Technologies that will benefit the entire seed sector.

By bringing ISF members together to learn from best practice in the field – and from each other – the input from the workshop will be used to develop the SAT communication strategy.

The workshop includes a panel discussion with representatives from across the sector covering:

  • - experiences of farmers and beekeepers
  • - issues for seed companies
  • - how crop protection companies deal with new products

In addition to the free-flowing ideas, participants will take away a wealth of knowledge from the guest speakers who will be covering safeguarding, stewardship and the regulatory challenges facing Seed Applied Technologies.

This post-congress Workshop is accessible upon invitation and no onsite registration will be available

Should you require further information please contact the ISF Secretariat.
